A Steampunk Story of Triumph, Disaster, Inventors, Insane-asylum escapees, and American Frontiersmen with guns. They are not thieves, merely lady and gentlemen members of the Acquisitions Bureau.

Theodore Thaddeus Thatch the Third is the quintessential gentleman inventor of 1868. That means he is very ill, chronically unlucky, constantly out of pocket, and widly shunned for his role in the great automaton disaster of 1865. His luck changes however when he is offered the chance to repair a rare piece of clockwork, which turns out to be far more than it appears.

MC: Here's a How Not to Survive a Hostage Situation: Don't be me. Rule#1 Don't meet a guy fighting against cutlery. Rule#2 Don't get mistaken for someone with talent when you've absolutely none. Rule#3 Don't let a war, a high-stakes revenge plot, and one human weapon disguised as a person wreck your already failing life. (Oh, and don't expect me to tell you my name. You'll have to earn that.) But if you do? Congrats. You're now in my position-trapped, bleeding, and somehow still expected to be the sane one. Trowa: You're not the sane one. MC: Okay, first of all-rude. Second of all, enter Trowa. Trowa: Don't enter me into this. MC: Sigh. He's a questionable ally who moves people like chess pieces. Trowa: Incorrect. I don't play chess with lives. I just... redecorate the board when necessary. MC: Yeah. That's so much better. He plans. I panic. Together, we're one bad decision away from death. Trowa: Two. I have contingencies. MC: Oh, great. So we die second. Fantastic. And if we survive this, I'm going to need therapy. Trowa: You need therapy even if we don't. ################################## She was supposed to be a bystander. Now, she's bleeding in the middle of a war she doesn't understand. Instead, she's dodging kidnappers, advanced tech, and a human weapon in the shape of a too-strategic ally. The worst part? She is not important-just unlucky. And in this kind of game, even those important don't survive long. ################################## For fans of sarcastic narrators, bad decisions, and humor that's basically Percy Jackson... if he grew up, got more cynical, bled more, and forgot how to run away. ##################################

When my home was consumed by the Rot, a deadly infection that left me orphaned and adrift in a world consumed by despair, I sought out a new beginning. Haunted by the ghosts of my past, I fled to a place that was said to be a safe haven, Zenith. That was where I first encountered Caspian, a man obsessed with 'collecting' those who he performs terrifying experiments on, trying to build an army of literal man-made automatons to take over the whole continent of Cogovia. Our first interaction caused a power within me I never knew I possessed to be unleashed, a cataclysmic force that both terrified and intrigued me. This newfound power drew the attention of Jasper Thorne, a reclusive inventor who resides in the hidden enclave of Aethelhum. Drawn into Jasper's enigmatic world of clockwork creations and forbidden secrets, I found myself trapped in a conflict I never imagined. Our initial encounters were marked by bitter clashes - his arrogance clashing with my defiance. Yet, as the shadow of Caspian's ambition loomed larger, we found ourselves an unlikely alliance. Together, we must learn to harness my burgeoning power and confront the psychopath who threatens to engulf Aethelhum and me in shadows. But in the face of impending doom, I realize that I must be the one to not only protect my new home and the enigmatic man who has become both my enemy and the man I was slowly falling in love with, but I also needed to protect the fragile hope of our future that has begun to bloom within my own shattered heart. As they say, having power comes with a cost, and that cost just might be my very life.
