Eden Reed loses everything when this devastation dawns upon him. He and his sister are on the run for 7 years by themselves until they join a group of survivors just like them. From the perspective of Eden and a struggling girl named Astrid, follow along the troubles, romances, and friendships that occur during the time of a falling America.

This disease is known as Stigma X, or STX. Meet Ashley Reynolds, an 18 year-old girl, who is a senior in high school. Ashley comes from a family who grants her nothing but misery, and hates her very existence. When Ashley caught the disease at the end of her freshman year, the rejoicing coming from Ashley's family caused her heart to falter, and soon found herself welcoming death. For her senior year, Ashley moves into her aunts mansion in order for Ashley to live the life every child deserves. There, Ashley encounters new friends and a guy who has changed her outlook on life. However, the disease inside of Ashley is starting to eat away at her, and the attacks from it causing her excruciating pain. Will Ashley give up on life before she gets a chance to live it out properly? Will the anguish and suffering Ashley endured for her entire life be too much for her to want to continue living?

When Evita starts asking questions Evelyn Sheer, the head of the city's Department of Energy, takes her captive and places her in a secret, underground research facility. Evelyn Sheer and the researchers are trying to create a genetic modification that enables humans to photosynthesize. Once in the facility, Evita is tagged as a test subject and loses all say over what happens to her body. She has to escape. By the time she comes up with a plan there is only one problem. Evita isn't ready to leave.
