"Time keeps going, and so too must we." In every corner of the universe, time passes. The same can be said about other universes as well.

Mick, sixteen years old and a little bit broken, knows this all too well. After finding herself thrown ten years into the past and in a world where her family is scattered, she kept on living. She found a new home with her too-young mother, and three kid sisters she never knew. Of course, life isn't perfect with the family hovering over the poverty line- a far cry from Mick's own middle class family.

In the world, tensions are high as the threat of another war looms over their heads. A political game that seems to ensnare everyone she once knew in its grasp. As the situation turns dire, the family moves to a small Northern town. There, Mick is confronted by the people in her old life, ones who might hold the key to her return to her own universe... And as laws continue to tighten around the town, Mick must fight to keep her family together and protect the people she calls home.

A coming-of-age story of hope during our bleakest moments, friendship, the legacies left behind, and learning to move forward.

I was normal before this. Before him. Normal job, normal flat, the bliss normality of the ignorance of all the real monsters. I used to think that one time murderers were what went bump in the night. But compared to Xavier Falicci? Child's play. And I was happy in my ignorance. So so happy. Then he stole me from my life. Made me watch people be murdered. Made me murder people. But he made me feel things, so many different things. Through all of the pain, through all of the pleasure, through every emotion that he's made run through my veins, I try to think of a worse way to live. Because being his captive has changed me. Changed everything about me. As soon as I was kidnapped, the old Brooklyn died. The old me, the one who knew the difference between good and evil, right and wrong, justice and redemption. But, you know, through it all, all of the madness since that fateful night, I've realised something. Life isn't like that. Life isn't serving justice and slamming the prison cell door then riding off into the mafia free sunset. It's harder than that. Rougher. And Xavier has shown me everything that I wanted. Who knows, maybe being the mafia boss' kidnapped detective fuck buddy wasn't that bad after all... EXTREME SEXUAL CONTENT EXTREME STRONG LANGUAGE MATURE SCENES OF VIOLENCE I think it's a brilliant book, but I'm biased! Give it a read- what have you got to lose?... New Years Eve 2018 is one that will go down in history, that is if anyone survives to see 2019. Alice Cunningham is living her dream college life in New York City just like she'd always planned. She might be 3,000 miles from home, but shes happy. She's at the school she's always wanted, about to score an internship at a huge children's publishing house, and has a small group of friends who "get" her. On her list of dreams is to experience the ball drop in Times Square, so when her roommate asks her to go she doesn't hesitate to say no. Things turn ugly when one of their friends gets a hold of a drug that turns one night of fun into something straight out of a horror film. Derek Wolcot wasn't always his name. Four years ago at 17 he was pulled from his home in Southern California because of his fathers mistakes, leaving behind the one person he cared about the most. One minute they were planning their futures and in the next he vanished off the grid, literally. When his fathers mistakes catch up with them on New Years Eve life could go either way for Derek and his family. Their lives could be compromised or they might be the only ones who survive. Things become even more complicated for Alice and Derek when their paths cross, Derek knows who she is, but Alice can't even remember her own self enough to remember him. Derek does everything in his power to keep her at a distance, but now that she's back in his life he's finding it hard to let go.
