Wildflowers In The Ruins: A 1917 Story by Snowdropsdream

Completed fan fiction for the film 1917: This is the very first fan fiction I've ever attempted. Please be kind. I hope you like it. It features all of the main characters, several of the others, plus many I've created. Northern France, April 1917: A Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse is sent on an urgent mission across no-man's land accompanying two Lance Corporals, but she will have her own mission to fullfil also and be tested in ways she never deemed possible. Each chapter is named after a flower, relevant to the story, and that you can encounter growing in the wild, either in Britain or Northern France, with the exception of roses and Sweet William's. This story does contain spoilers from the film so it's really worth watching it first. Chapers two (from around halfway through) to eight I've taken directly from the film. The script is copyrighted to Sam Mendes and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, although I've worked from what's spoken in the film rather than off the script. I've taken inspiration from other films, television and books (fiction and non-fiction) set in the First World War too such as Forgotten Voices, The Roses Of No-Man's Land, War Horse, The Crimson Field, Private Peaceful, They Shall Not Grow Old, Testament Of Youth, Journey's End and Birdsong. I've also taken inspiration from the beautiful book A Song For Will which is based on the true story of the gardeners and labourers from the Heligan Estate in Cornwall. Every character who isn't featured in the film 1917 is fictitious and the names are entirely made-up, although every female character's Christian name in my story belongs to a female relative of mine who was alive at the time of the First World War, for example my four Great-grandmothers were Mary-Jane, Lavinia, Ada and Alice. The other names were from my Great and Great-Great-Aunts. Enjoy. ❤ 🌺 ☘ 🌻 💖 🍂 🌿 🌼 💗 🌲 🌸 🍃 💕 🌹 🌱 ⚘💝 🌳 🏵 💮 💌 🌾 💐 🍁 💞 🍀
The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield by ninyatippett

***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.*** Charlotte Samuels thought she'd be stuck waiting tables at Marlow's until all her debts are paid off-in about ten thousand years or so. She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries. Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles: 1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health. 2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year. 3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date-er, business meeting. So what's a girl got to do, right? Sure, she's young and a little rough around the edges but there's something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet-she's nothing like he ever expected. Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain. *** Copyright © 2014 by Nina Tippett. WATTYS 2016 WINNER! - Writer's Debut Category **A Wattpad Featured story!!!** What's a lady to do... Lady Charlotte has never been the typical English lady. Nor does she intend to be when her uncle makes a bid to inherit everything - the land, the money. All that had been her father's a decade before. So when her uncle forces the issue, Charlotte knows her time is up. She is making her move. As the poor gentleman, Charlie. In two weeks' time, she plans to take control of her future while stripping her uncle of his. When she meets her match... Lord Greyson, the Earl of Claymore, can't seem to forget the mysterious lady he saved from being compromised, only for her to punch him in the face and descend a balcony to be rid of him. He doesn't expect to meet her again so soon, and not like this. As a lad who looks distinctly familiar, with a sharp tongue and a spirit that demands independence. What else is Greyson to do but watch over his little caterpillar, offering her safety and employment in his stables? It's the perfect solution. Or so he thinks. And finds herself falling in love... What neither one of them expects is the sexual tension that ignites between them. What's a girl to do when she finds herself falling for her employer. And that he seems to feel the same...for his stable hand. But that's the least of their problems as a common enemy threatens to tear them apart, one that has no intention of letting either one of them off the hook. It's winner take all - breeches edition. And Charlie plays to win. Highest Rating : #1 in Historical Fiction 5/15/2016 Most Recent: #1 in Historical Fiction 67/22/2016 Book 1 in the Spirited Brides series *Cover made by @Aphrodite270*
