This is a poem that I had to write in English class yesterday. It is a 'golden shovel' of the poem "I am Learning to Abandon the World" by Linda Pashtan. It's just something that came to me in class.

A golden shovel is a poem that is derived from one line of a parent poem. Each word from the chosen line is added to the beginning or end of the derived poem. It's confusing to explain because its one of those things that is more show than tell.

My eyes were literally glowing, there was no mistaking it. It was not a reflection of light, or any of the other excuses I had used or others had assumed. They were glowing a light sapphire blue color. It was not a bright glow, but it was definitely a glow. Glowing eyes were not normal. Okay, at this point I had to admit it, I was no longer normal.
