"Good God you're mad," I whispered, backing away from this maniac with his heart-wrenching grin.
"What's wrong babe, nervous?" he smirked, placing his hands either side of my head on the lockers.
Brilliant, it's only been a week since I've met him and he's lost his marbles, I thought to myself.
Anger bubbled within me, and I drew myself to my full height- a whopping 5'4, and glared at him. I brought my foot up, and stamped on his foot hard.
"What the HELL!" he yelped, eyebrows furrowed as he grabbed his foot in pain, moving away from me. I shot him a satisfied smile as I turned away and walked to get my well-deserved lunch.
"Just because I'm from London doesn't mean I haven't met tossers like you," I called as I turned the corner. Just as I did, I caught the look on his gorgeous face. It's one I had seen man times on my brothers' faces before.
A challenge.
Naira didn't expect to have to move away from everyone and everything she loved just before the most important year in her life- the last year of messing around with friends before university. So finding herself on a one-way flight to California, thousands of miles and at least 8 time zones away from London does nothing to help her mood.
Everything's different: it doesn't seem to rain, everyone seems happy and her high school seems like something out of Mean Girls.
And then he caught her eye.
He turns up a week late to school, leaves as he wishes, and even though that smile must break hearts, he keeps to himself. There's something else in those dangerously dark eyes of his- sadness. Naira wants nothing more than to stay away, but an unexpected night changes both of their lives forever.
