Adam Davenport was so excited. His girlfriend of a year, Sadie Evans, was finally coming out to Mission Creek to attend Emmie's mom's wedding! He had all these big plans to show her around his hometown, to take her out on as many dates as he could, and to finally have her with him after the war. The whole world had finally calmed down for a moment, and he couldn't wait to share this opportunity with Sadie. But then she ran away. Adam knew that Sadie struggled in his huge and wild family, that she didn't quite know them, but this was the perfect way to introduce her to the people who raised him! He understood that his family was a lot to take in, especially since her own family was a hot mess. Adam didn't know where to find Sadie, but he had to find her quick or else he was going to miss the wedding. Adam never pictured himself to be on a wild goose chase around Mission Creek the night of the wedding, but he also never pictured himself settling down with a girl -- or that a girl would ever be interested in him in the first place. By exploring his hometown, he was able to explore his emotions about Sadie and his family, knowing that his whole life revolved around them. In the end, Adam knew he had found his forever, and he couldn't wait to start living it.

Emmie set out to try to figure out what they were keeping from everyone. She came so close to figuring out why the Davenport's were so secretive when her mother and Tasha got kidnapped. Emmie's whole world was ripped away from her. She was heartbroken and scared, and she would do anything to get them back. With the help of the Davenport siblings and Leo, Emmie tried to figure out where her mother and Tasha were. Emmie and Chase are forced to come together to find the two women because of their superior intelligences. Slowly but surely, it doesn't feel forceful anymore to hang out together. But she had to take matters into her own hands when another crisis arose in their lives. Emmie had always done things alone. This wasn't any different; it just had much higher stakes than homework. There was no going back now.
