A boy taken from his parents at birth is used by the government to test a new project. The project name is operation: monarch (because it sounds cool and I could not think of anything else), they implant him with bio-mechanical enhancements that allow him to move things with invisible electromagnetic waves from the earths magnetic field, they end up trashing the project and try to eliminate the boy but he uses his powers to escape and the book is about his quest to find his family.

The experiment.
They used my vulnerability against me. They used that weapon, to make me accept their stupid idea. And I of course, accepted it, I didn't even know what they were going to do. They tugged and poked and even shoved their disgusting finger in your wound, just to see you cry. To see you change. No pitty in their eyes. They just continue.
