Elizabeth Durrow placed her teacup down on the silver platter and stared off into the distance. The soft chirps of the lark sounded as it was mocking her. The dreadful noise reminded her of her love. She shut her eyes and pictured what life would be like if he had lived and came home from Europe. Every heart beat was a sharp pain for him. "Good morning, darling. Did you sleep well?" Elizabeth's eyes opened at the cursed sound of her fiance's voice. "Yes my lord. And you?" The words burned like acid as she spoke them. Lord Cunning sat beside Elizabeth and placed a hand on her cheek. At this she turned her cheek for his touch made her ill.

'You didn't answer my question,' he asked, holding her gaze in his hypnotic ones. 'Wh... what question?' She was surprised at her own voice, it sounded like of someone else's. She wanted to ask him--which question, there were so many he had asked her tonight. Each one threatening in their own different ways to her sanity. Brandan smiled mysteriously. Not answering her, he instead said something else, 'Don't keep staring at me like that.' His voice was soft. Suddenly, she found herself in some other world. 'W.. why?' She stammered ridiculously. Maybe that's why Emma loved Brandan despite all odds, more than she loved herself but only to find that it wasn't enough. When time and fate decided to be cruel to the utmost, she found herself broken in all the ways possible. Realizing that love wasn't enough, she picked up her ruined self and found a new beginning at the end. But fate had, apparently, some unexpected plans in store. Against all odds, they were meant to face one another once again. But this time, Brandan was a changed man and so was Emma. While one was burnt from the pain, another was burnt from the guilt. And then...

A familiar voice cut through the din of battle. Her breath caught. Max. His commanding tone carried across the field as he directed his troops. "Hold the line! Push them back toward the ravine!" Camilla pressed herself deeper into the shadows, pulling her hood lower. Five years had passed since she'd last seen him, yet his presence still made her pulse race. The hood's rough fabric scratched against her cheek as she adjusted it, ensuring her face remained hidden. "The mysterious captain fights well," Max's voice carried from somewhere behind her. Too close. She dispatched her opponent with a move she instantly regretted - a distinctive disarming technique Max had taught her years ago. "That move..." His footsteps approached. "Captain!" A messenger rode up, providing the distraction she needed. "Enemy reinforcements approaching from the north!" "Not possible," Camilla muttered, forgetting to disguise her voice. "We destroyed their northern supply lines." The messenger shook his head. "They've found another route, through the mountain pass." Max's sharp intake of breath told her he'd recognized her voice. "Cam?" She kept her back turned, barking orders to her troops. "Secure the perimeter! Prepare for-" "Camilla." His hand caught her shoulder. She shrugged it off, still not facing him. "We have more pressing concerns than reunions, General." "Look at me." "The enemy is-" "That's an order, Captain."

A Million Whispers The wind carried secrets through the valleys of Velmora, each whisper threading itself into the fabric of a kingdom on the edge of ruin. It was said that if one stood still enough in the palace gardens, they could hear the voices of the past-echoes of lost loves, broken oaths, and the quiet desperation of those bound by duty. Princess Evelyne had listened to those whispers all her life, and now, as she stood on the marble balcony overlooking the gilded city, she wondered if her own voice would soon be among them. Her father, King Aldric, was a ruler of iron will and heavy expectations. The crown prince of the enemy kingdom, Kieran Valcour, had arrived at court, his presence a reminder of the treaty forged in desperation-an alliance that would be sealed with Evelyne's hand in marriage. She had always known she would be a pawn in the game of politics, but she never expected her heart to rebel against her fate. Beyond the palace walls, in the dense forests where the kingdom's heartbeat pulsed strongest, another whisper stirred. A boy with storm-gray eyes and a past he refused to remember was coming for her. His name was Rylen, and though Evelyne did not yet know him, their destinies were tangled in ways neither could foresee. War brewed on the horizon. Love, duty, and fate would collide. And in a world where a single whisper could start a war or heal a heart, Evelyne would have to decide which voices to follow-those of the past, or the call of her own soul.

The village loomed closer and closer, but instead of the usual deathly silence that hung thick in the air when Alexander and Rowan came through, the village was awash with jeering and shouting. Alexander halted and shifted uneasily in the saddle as thoughts of whether this was all meant for him or some other poor soul made his stomach churn painfully. "Mi'lord, none of this is meant for you." Rowan murmured from Alex's left hand side. "They are calling out 'Witch' Rowan, what if they mean to...." Alexander turned his head to Rowan and watched as his friends face paled. "They wouldn't..... Surely to God, they wouldn't....." Rowan asked as a shudder ripped through him and his hands clenched the reigns in a death grip. "I-" Alexander started to say but turned his head at the sound of a terrified female scream. Rowan watched as Alexander kicked his horse into motion, not missing the animalistic growl he let out as the horse raced towards the village. Rowan shot off after Alexander, all the while sending silent prayers to God asking that he protect that girl and forgive his friend. Rowan was no more than six yards behind, but it was too far - he needed to stay close to his friend, he did not know how he would react if they were burning her for her 'crimes'.
