Eliana Torres, or El as her friends called her is in her senior year in high school when she meets the only person who will be able to save her from herself. It had been almost three years since the death of Jayden Torres, El's younger brother. In those three years she became an addict and a misfit, but now she has an opportunity to change herself.

Marilyn Robertsons family moved to Pine shortly after her grandmother died. It had been her idea to move back to the small town she was born in. She knew it was the last year she had to find out if Eliana was still there. She hadn't seen El since they were children, Eliana being 9 and Marilyn being only 7 at the time.
