"I fear humans more than I fear the so-called monsters, Teyl..." Monsters had always been the ones inducing fear upon humans, wreaking havoc and spreading dread across the lands, but what if it was the other way around? In the world of humans, Differ-ents were referred to as "monsters", as beings with supernatural power. Thing was, they never were able to use those abilities freely. They were chained down by the 'paramount' who had disappeared a long time ago and their freedom was taken away from them. The humans now had a great advantage over them and even made a movement to eliminate Differ-ents in their judgment. Humans wanted to be different from one another, without even knowing that being different was a curse, not a wonderful thing.
