Earth is slowly recovering 19 years after a catastrophic zombie outbreak. An improvised government is struggling to support the newly growing human population.  Everyone inside the safezones gets chipped to narrowly control population numbers. Every year, "Open Season" takes  place, allowing everyone to legally kill other humans outside the safezone. If not enough people die during open season, the government takes matters into own hands, and complements the numbers by purging individuals they see as least valuable to society. Having a mother weak due to illness, the young Diane needs to do everything within her power to stop this from happening.
  
  Meanwhile, far outside the safe zones, a boy with a special gift is getting exploited to live a life of crime.  Fed up with his way of life, he is looking for any opportunity to break free.
