Lia's parents had to move from China to America when they were children, and they are always telling Lia how hard it was for them to fit in.
Every day they give her tips on how to make friends and fit in with groups, but the thing is, she does not even WANT to fit in! She just wants to be original, a one of a kind person.
But it is hard for her because everyone is always pressuring her in groups and making her do things she does not want to do! She never has felt like she was special and does not know what makes her unique! So she tries to not give into peer pressure.
She was fine until sixth grade, when she started middle school.
