Margaret Kurt feels messed up inside and it doesn't help that the world around her is messed up too.
When her Mom dies, she must go live with her Dad . . . who she hasn't seen in eleven years. To her astonishment, she discovers he is one of the chief directors of an underground organization known as The U.N.I.T. The United National Interceding Team. One of their many projects is to train young men and women to become field agents. This isn't what MK wanted, but it's where she finds herself, and there's no way she can run when she knows so much.
But, there's something about The U.N.I.T that doesn't sit well with MK. There's strange things about some of the people there. But, what's more disturbing are the whispers on people's lips about a man, an evil man plotting revenge on The U.N.I.T for something that happened years ago just before the war. They're hiding something and she's determined to find out what it is.
Meanwhile, somewhere else in the world, there's someone on the way to take her out before she learns too much.
Take her out, as in take her to him. For he believes she is the key to his uprising.
