Veronica's family is simply fucked up. The mayor of their town (AKA Veronica's dad) keeps more than enough of skeletons in his closet. Her best friend Christina showed her the way to freedom from the stress and burdens her father made her keep. Since Ben (AKA Veronica's brother) was the oldest in the family, he had to keep his fathers "perfect" profile of him and his family and because it was his last year in high school, he thought that as soon as he graduated he didn't have to stay in that godforesaken town anymore and be his fathers loyal son.
