Sera has enough problems with being a teenager--between cute guys, backstabbing gossip, and friends' betrayals. She thinks those are her only problems, until weird things begin happening when she loses her temper and her foster parents become suddenly evasive about her past. Her only memories of her early life are the sounds--the snap of latex gloves, the piercing beep of a heart rate monitor, and one sentence:
