He admires Elsa for her bravery but that cannot change his mind about not wanting to marry her.
Elsa was as innocent as a 15 year old can be but then her father killed her mother and it changed her life. She wants revenge not from her father but from Cecilio Greco who trapped her mother. She will not stop untill she gets justice for her mother.
