My Ray of Sunshine
After being stuck in the Refuge for seven years, Jack Kelly's twin sister, Raya Kelly, is finally released after the strike. Race and Albert were present when Raya was brought in to the Refuge barely able to stay in consciousness, but it wasn't the Delancey's or Weisel's doing. As kids, Jack and Raya were abused by their rich parents. When their parents were fed up with the twins far enough, they kicked Jack to the curb and sent Raya to the Refuge where she took care of the Newsies brought in each day. He wasn't so lucky this time around and passed away due to blood loss. This drove their mother into a state of insanity, forcing Davey and Les to pack up their things and leave. They now live on the streets with their fellow newsies, struggling to support themselves just like every other newsie. Their lives were still pretty crappy and hopeless, but hey, they were still alive and that was what mattered.
