Battered, bitter, betrayed - I am shadow.

My name is Manora Wilsheim and I'm a contract killer - the fancy word would be assassin but that's self-glorifying and there is NO GLORY in what I do.

When I was nine I saw my father burned at the stake, and half my family burned along with him.
When I was eleven I was taken into slavery along with the rest of my people, I got the better deal - them - a death sentence lasting a lifetime under the scorching sun.
At fifteen I became a killer - a world I hate so much, a world that I must endure.

I want answers - answers to who my mother was, why the prophets are ripping each other apart screaming of the end of the world, and why my employers want me dead.

I want revenge - revenge for the death of my father, the destruction of my village, the enslavement of my people.
