Any Given Weekend (English Version)
When Ilgaz and Ceylin are forced to act like a real couple during a three-day weekend outside of town, the built up tension sends sparks flying in the air. Before the weekend is over, is their relationship turning to ashes or is the explosive mutual attraction between them finally going to burst into flames? This story sets a few months in the future and it has a lighter, more comedic/flirty/romance-y approach, it's not very drama-heavy. To make sure that was possible, I didn't include the outcome of some of the unresolved plots on the show (like Zafer's demise, for example). This is a four-part multi-chapter. It was originally posted in Portuguese but because I have been getting quite a few international readers, I thought about posting this story in English. If it's well-received, I will do the same with the two others I wrote. Echo of the Past
A few months ago, I bought a mug with gold gilt. On sale. Not a gift either nor because of an occasion to remember by it. Just plain, pretty mug for 15PLN. I drank my coffee from it since. I spat loose tea leaves into it. It never felt particularly significant. An ordinary object. Only when I lost it, I realised its true value. I sat comfortably at my desk one evening. Looking at my phone, I reached to take my song-text notebook. Trivial situation. My clumsy fingers were unable to avoid the mug. They allowed it to topple over, to slip from the desktop. Even though I did not see the split-second occurrence, I felt the pressure of unease. My head painted the trajectory of the fall on its own, the shattering, spillage. The loss. For a millisecond I still had hope, that I would be able to catch the mug, that I would be able to avoid what was about to happen. But I knew I was headed for failure. I don't have any superpowers. I only scalded my fingers. I looked at the mug's new shape for a long while, at the shattered pieces. At the spilling liquid. Our adventure came to an end. Irrevocably. I won't be drinking coffee from it anymore, nor spit tea leaves into it. Well. I shouldn't be sad, it was just a regular mug, just like thousands of others. I grew to like it, it kept me company throughout hundreds of warm drinks. I lost it. I hate this feeling the most. In the moment when I am losing something, I stop in my tracks, I hold my breath. It is always a very intense moment. A short one, but one that gives me the tight unpleasant feeling in my stomach. The feeling of loss is always accompanied by hope. Silly and naïve. Making me believe so strongly, that I can make it. That I will still be able to catch the mug mid-flight. When the feeling is entering the body, crawling into me I realise, how important it was to me. Whether it's Nivan or a stupid mug with gold gilt.Complete
Erkenci Kuş: Broken Promises
Snippets of alternate outcomes in the lives and enduring love story of Can Divit and Sanem Aydin. When I started out with this story, I only intended to loosely base the 'short piece' on the events in Bolum (Episodes) 17 & 18 however, I got such positive feedback, I decided to stretch it out a bit. I'm still unsure how far I will stretch it but so far, I'm enjoying writing it and will keep going till I run out of steam. I can't think of any show/movie that I've watched in recent times to which I have reacted as I did when I watched Erkenci Kuş. The characters hooked their claws into me and wouldn't let go. I rooted for Sanem and Can; cried and laughed with them; railed at and cursed their detractors and finally rejoiced over their reunion. However, the ending was so rushed. After all the angst we were put through with their relationship, I felt robbed of an extended happily-ever-after. What we were given was too short. I hope to right that wrong, amongst others, with this story. Though I only watched the show in Jan/Feb 2023, I have since rewatched it countless times. There were certain parts of the plot which wound me up so much so this is me writing what I wished had happened. Enjoy!Complete

His face is leveled to mine and I can see tiny droplets of water on his face and lips as he draws closer to me, my anticipation is crazy as he moves millimeter by millimeter. I roll my eyes and move my head away. "Don't do this." He acknowledges what I said but doesn't act on it. He takes his hand and moves it to my jawline, moving my head to him. This causes me to become frantic. I can't get messed over. "Karan, we literally just had this conversation. This isn't fair to me, please don't." His facial features soften completely at my tone and he looks at me genuinely. "I would never." With that he kisses me and my stomach explodes in butterflies, turning over. He moves his hands from the hood of his car to the side of my waist. "That wasn't fake, Tejasswi", his eyes intent on mine against the dark drizzling sky. I can't stop looking at him. She's a soloist who doesn't like help. Especially with a huge mission like this. Will the mission fall through? Or would she need a partner more than ever?Complete
