(This story is a collab between me and two of my good friends, Gira (a_giragon) and Echo (echoing.art)! They're amazing, go check them out on instagram!)
Darkness itself had warped. Nobody knew how, or why. All around, shadows were moving, twisting, yet no one could sense anything in them. The confusion and frustration of not knowing was causing chaos.
For two already warring planets, this added commotion only made things worse. Accusations were tossed left and right. Fighting forces were deployed, spies were sent on missions, only to come up empty.
Among the rising disorder, the shadows silently watched, waiting for the right time.

Nova disguise as a boy to enter the military school. If she is discovered as a girl, she will be kicked out. She is desperate to hide from trackers who have been following her for a dozen years. No one would think to look for her in an all-male military school. She hides among werewolves and is one of the very few nonshifters at the school. She catches the new instructor's curiosity, and her identity is threatened. He claims to be her mate, but she knows that her kind don't have a mate and desperately tries to avoid him. If he stumbles upon her true identity, she is screwed. "What are you doing?!" growls his highness, ripping the knife from my hands. It tingles as his fingers close around my wrist. Fresh blood flows from the wound, turning his hands red. Deep throaty sounds, rumbling in his chest. "You hurt yourself," he says softly, pain evident in his voice. I look up and frown. "It's just a small cut," I reply, annoyed. None of the other cadets get this kind of attention. Besides, we have to learn this to pass the exam. "Shhh, it's going to be okay," he says, pressing me close. My whole side explodes with sparks. It tickles me. "You have to stop hurt yourself. Why are you even here? How am I going to protect you here?" he asks angrily. "I don't need your protection!" I shout, pushing him away. I get an angry growl back. Quickly I grab another knife and throws it over my shoulder, hitting bulls' eye. He glares at me, and the room has gone completely silent. That's when I discover that I may have gone too far with the insanely possessive highness, even though I'm grateful for the extra lessons he gives me. Then suddenly everyone hurries out of the training area. Leaving me alone with the growling, red eyed alpha.
