We won the war but only 16 of us remained. As the Hokage I decided to go back and save everybody else instead of starting a new. All of my friends had decided that going back with me and Kurama was the best thing. Maybe this time with the war not looming immediately over my head I might tell Shikamaru how I have always felt even when I was the dead last.
