Tori Fenn is a young journalist who lost her eye mysteriously about ten years back. Doctors claimed it had been carved out and that she'd been unconscious for about three days. After the incident, a silver sphere that fit into the palm of her hand had appeared in the pocket of her jeans and carried it with her ever since. Whoever took her eye was never caught.
When Tori is alerted by a cop that's a friend of hers there's been a string of people reported missing in the small town of Sinbourne, the place she was found in when she'd lost her eye, Tori believes it would make for an interesting story and flies from New York to write about the case.
She finds that the people of Sinbourne are kind and patient, telling her all their tales of horror in the woods, old and new, and falls in love with two completely different men at the same time.
Tori's story turns dark when the body of a young boy is found in the woods, missing an eye. She's forced to return to her past when the police try her case again to see if the two are connected. With Tori being the only known living victim of the night predator, she's the only one who can connect the mysterious person to the murders.
When Tori begins to find that she's being stalked, the journalist's story takes a deep twist that could change her life forever.
Will Tori prevail and catch the killer, or will she end up as just another one of Sinbourne's tales?
