The tragic accident that happens when she is only thirteen years old changed her life forever, even making her change her name into the goal she makes to herself as she tries to find the only family she hopes is still alive. When she finally finds her long lost brother she comes to find out something about him, he's been keeping secrets. The secret leads to her doing everything she can to make things right with her brother and her friend Daryl, who is also hiding a secret from her. When will these secrets finally be revealed? Will she ever find a place in the world? Will she find a new home in this new world of destruction and chaos?

This story tells Lauren's journey before she met the infamous rick grimes and what she has to go through before she crosses their path and it all leads up to their big meeting on the rail road tracks, a spy and a cure. Will she ever find her sister? Lauren is in her worse state of mind after losing everything she's ever loved and gets to meet Rick in his scariest state of survival also, relating to him more than anyone else in the group having done the same things as Rick to survive at all costs. Hardly anybody ever considers the barbaric murderers with the Cheshire Cat smiles or the cunning killers lurking around for their next victim to slice open. Or what about the huge range of communities out there, trying their best to thrive in the new world? Surely, not all of them are bad... right?
