- Our next student to be sorted will be Octavia Blake
She took a step forward, terrified. The sounds of the great hall seemed like a distant buzzing. Octavia sat down next to professor McGonagall who placed the hat on her head.
"Well well well, would you look at that. A Blake, once again. I sorted your whole family in Slytherin for generations, you know?" The sorting hat's voice resonated in her head
I know, she thought.
But the truth was, she wasn't sure it was where she belonged. Since he was a kid, her brother Bellamy showed cunning and ambition, and there were no doubt that he was a Slytherin. But Octavia?
"You're right child. Your brother was undoubtedly a Slytherin, but that's not you, is it? You're meant for a different path. GRYFFINDOR!" the last word was shouted across the room.

Octavia was imprisoned and sentenced to death, and Aurora was floated into space for breaking the Ark's strict population law of only having a single child. Freya couldn't forgive Bellamy for the consequences, and their once-strong bond shattered. Their friendship turned into avoidance and resentment, with both cutting all contact. When Octavia, along with 99 other teenaged prisoners awaiting their death sentence, was scheduled to be sent to Earth in a desperate attempt to save humanity, with the Ark's dwindling life-support threatening its survival yet again, everything changes. Determined to protect her against the unknown, Bellamy and Freya both sneak onto the dropship, forcing them to confront their fractured relationship in the harsh realities of a new world.
