The year is 1944. The Calabresis are large, loud, and Italian, and this family is evolving just as fast as America around them. Vincent is the oldest, golden but gilded and fiercely ambitious. Softer John has been hiding in his brother's shadow for as long as he can remember- and yet Vincent's beautiful fiancee Margaret seems to see right through him. Pat, who goes by Patrick, who goes by Pasquale is the black sheep who can't decide just who he is,  ignored by his family and ignoring his own feelings.
