In the Dark of the Woods

Winter had come, but Scarlet knew she had nothing to fear so long as she stayed on the path, so the trip to her ailing grandmothers house in the woods did not bring a single one to mind. A basket on her arm, she begins her trip with her head held high and a cloak tight around her neck. The journey was peaceful. That is, at least until she hears strange noises coming from the trees around her. She is wary at first, but a sudden cry for help replaces her suspicions with the need to offer aid in a time of need.

He was injured and needed help. He was certain he was going to die, but the sounds of footsteps somewhere not to far off give him new hope again. He feared what would come if he called out for help, but decided a quick death was more welcoming than a slow one. He took the risk and there she came, a woman with gentle eyes and a red cloak that stood out in the sea of white surrounding them. He had asked for help, but he had not expected her to go above and beyond for a complete stranger. He will find his view of the world changed after this red cloaked woman throws herself into his life.

It was supposed to be a simple trip into the woods. Scarlet had walked the path time and time again. Had learned the dangers that came with straying from it. She had even faced the jaws of a terrible beast and lived to tell the tale. She could still remember that day as if she were still that young, naive child who thought nothing of talking to wolves and straying from the path, but Scarlet will soon come to realize that beasts can come in any shape or form, even that of someone close to her.
