"Why are you wearing those?" Near asked, pointing to Mello's sunglasses. It was raining and slightly overcast. Mello handed them to him.
"Put them on and look up." He said as their finger tips brushed together. Near saw the action but couldn't feel it. He wanted desperately to touch those fingers with his own and hold them there, then to lace them through the other boys. He wanted to show him how much he cared for him. He took the sunglasses and did as he was told. A raindrop fell onto the lense and he flinched at the sudden contact being so close to his eyes. He closed them and stood there for a minute. Mello watched him carefully, taking in every feature of the boys peaceful face. He brought his hand to his own shoulder and rested it there, looking back down at the ground. Near turned to him, admiring the way the raindrops on his glasses distorted the older ones figure. Suddenly his eyes saddened. There was always something to bring back to- ironically- reality.
"Mello..." He started. Mello glanced at him but quickly turned back to his staring contest with the ground. He already knew what Near wanted to say. More so, what he wanted to ask. But it was a question they both knew the answer to. And sadly, it was the answer neither of them wanted. Was he just a figment of Nears imagination?

He asks, hesitating on the crackers and pushing them away. "I just thought-it's just- well... you just always seem so pissed when someone mentions the word gay." I spit out words, scared for his reaction. He sighs, "That doesn't fucking mean I hate gays. Normally when I do that it's because someone's using the word 'gay' to hate on them, it just pisses me off, you know?" He asks, bringing the crackers back into his lap and biting into them. "Plus-" He adds on, "You're my best friend, if anything, you being gay is a blessing. I'll always support you." He says, glancing at me through the side of his eyes. I look away, towards the door to hide the crimson blush that I feel spread over my face. "Thanks." I all but squeak out. And that's the day I realized, I have a faint crush on my best friend. <><><><><< THIS BOOK IS BEING *MAJORLY* EDITED.
