The door flung open into the dark room, lightening struck the dark sky shining a little light on the shirtless man that stood by the doorway. "Who's there" my shaky voice masked with fear asked. Paying a deaf ear to my question he walked deeper into the room towards my bed as my shaky hands drew the covers higher over my whimpering self, right up to my nose. "Khalil?" my voice sounded weird coming through the thick duvet, it felt awkward calling his name I mean am I even allowed to call him that? I was more scared now that I knew who it was. What was he doing in room? A loud thunder sound came as he sat beside me, a little too close. Does this man know he's shirtless and in my room at eleven p.m? "Have you chosen a surrogate?" his thick voice cut through the sound of raindrops and my train of thoughts. I slowly shook my head at him. "Relax"He raised his hand to my face which was still covered halfway and slowly dragged down the covers down to my abdomen revealing my bare arms in my spaghetti strap v neck nightwear. I scanned the room for my robe and found it hanging on the coat rack in the far end of my room, I would get up to get it but my nightgown didn't really qualify as a gown. I watched his eyes travel up my body landing on my chest, his Adams apple bobbed up. He shut his eyes and when he opened them, they landed on mine sending shivers down my spine... One night, Saad pushed open Arham's door without knocking. The room was dark except for the faint glow of the lamp. At first, Saad thought Arham wasn't there. But then he saw him-on the prayer mat, forehead pressed to the ground, shoulders trembling. Saad froze. Arham's voice broke into the stillness, muffled in sujood. "Ya Allah... if Fatima is good for me, grant her to me. If not, give me the strength to let go." The words cracked like something breaking open inside. Saad's throat tightened. He stepped back, closing the door softly, leaving Arham with his Lord. That night, he couldn't sleep. He had always known Arham as calm, unshaken, controlled. To see him like that-raw, stripped of composure, clinging to prayer-told Saad more than any confession could. In the chaos of medical college-wards, exams, sleepless nights-two people keep finding each other in silence. She hides behind calm smiles. He hides behind steady eyes. Neither dares to cross the line... until secrets slip out, and stillness turns into something neither expected. How long can you resist someone who feels like home? ---
