Alice Peters.
Fired from her job at Denver, she went to New York. With an entirely new identity. The job she went for?
Police work.
And it was all going perfectly until she came across Rafael Timber. A man that in the case she was working on, was meant to be dead. For all intents and purposes at least.
However he felt very, very real to Alice.
Furthermore, she never reported him.
Instead she asked for his help.
He had a... certain set of skills she needed to crack any and all cases.
And it just progressed from there.
Everything risked, lies uncovered, promises broken.
Hearts torn apart.
Pain served like a cheap drink in a bar.
Not to mention the secrets, the experiments, the love, the fear.
----
"You're not real." She whispered, "You're dead."
With a sigh, he replied, "Well, I should be."
"Why are you doing this?" She interrogated.
"Why are you? Miss Alice Peters, correct?.. Father, dead. Mother, murdered in your arms. Sister, still in Denver." He turned away, looking through the windows beside him.
"How do you know that?" Alice put a hand on her gun, ready for this 'stalker' to attack her.
"Your heart is racing. You're scared. I won't hurt you, you know? If I wanted to, I had plenty chance. Since before you even got here." He looked at her through the reflection in the glass, he knew her features perfectly.
She look her hand off of the gun, "Then give me answers. Give me more reason to trust you. How do you know me? How do you know if my heart is racing? Is this a trap?" Alice would've asked more, but was cut off by her phone ringing.
"You should get that." He spoke, seemingly calm.
"Yeah.. It's my partner.. Work stuff. I'm coming back later." She put her phone on silent.
Rafael's façade cracked, "You can't."
"Why?" She asked.
"You're stubborn. Go. You're needed." He groaned, not able to deal with her without revealing more, he'd already revealed more than he should have.
"Fine." Alice sighed and left, calling back her partner, hoping for a good lead.
