Until I Met Her
I was never the cool girl. Never the centre of attention. Hell, the first party I ever went to was because Kheli dragged me there when I was seventeen. Oh, Kheli... Kheli was my first love. My first everything. But once we finished high school, we parted ways. My plans were very clear: go to university, have fun, go to parties, maybe fool around at some point when missing Kheli got too much for me to handle. I don't know - the typical university life you see in movies. However, it was nothing like that. I was struggling to keep up with my assignments, my classes, all the drama, the parties, Kheli, the people, Pokémon Go - everything. I couldn't keep up with any of it. And then... Eleanor Williams did what she does best. She came out of nowhere and planted herself right in the middle of my world. And like a very fucking annoying tree, she set down roots and refused to move. And then I found myself - God, kill me now - enjoying being around Eleanor Williams. I found myself watering the fucking tree even when I knew it would only make the roots grow deeper, until there was no way of pulling it out. (Yes, sometimes I make very shitty metaphors. You'll get used to it.) But just because I was, much to my dismay, enjoying Eleanor Williams's company didn't mean she wanted me around.
Back to Square One
As I stare at myself in the mirror, I don't even recognize the reflection. I'm a married woman, and I can't get over that. I'm only wearing red lace underwear at the moment. I wear sexy panties and bras now because I have someone who's seeing them every day other than myself. Does he wear special boxers...? I'm not ready to think about Silas that way yet. It is still too weird. I am a little surprised that I haven't had a meltdown yet. I've never had a panic attack before, but my life has been turned upside-down. I have a pretty damn good excuse to have one. Everyone is probably expecting that I will. They may even be surprised that I haven't yet. Eight years erased... Eight years to learn... I stare at my reflection in the mirror. I'm still me... just older. I rub lotion into my face, examining it closely. Still me. Same blue eyes. Same shallow dimples in my cheeks. Same lips that cover straight teeth that my parents paid a lot of money for. I step back and take in my body. A little curvier then I remember, but not by much. I guess with marriage comes comfort weight. My hair is the same blonde, just longer. How odd to have everything the same... yet so different. Completed July of 2019Complete

I was only 7 when I met her, but we had an instant connection. We were inseperable. She was always happy and joyful around me, but me on the other hand, I was a completely different story. I suffered a disorder that caused me to have no emotions. I told her my condition and she understood, but one day she dissapeared, I didn't feel sad, worried or angry like I should have. I just continued my day like any other day, but by myself. I continued to have no friends as I got older and talked to no one, but it didn't bother me. (Exactly what it sounds like. It's really not a love story. ) "Do you like me?" You're straight forward I forget that sometimes. I open the drink and look at it as if it were the most interesting thing in the world. I sigh, it's a habit now, and take a gulp. "So?" You ask again. I put the drink on a table next to your bed and sit properly. "I don't know." I say honestly. You didn't seem fazed but you did seem a bit confused. "What do you mean you don't know?" I shrug and decide that the floor is the next best thing to look at. "I like you." I laugh at this and see you don't. "Don't say that. You don't like me. You don't." As I looked over at her, it struck me how beautiful she was. Her hair was blowing carelessly in the wind, a halo on her head. I had the oddest impulse to reach out and touch it. See if it was as soft as it looked. Her lips were curled into a soft smile that radiated warmth. I wondered who or what she was thinking of and my heart skipped a beat imagining her smiling for me. It's crazy how I never noticed how blue he eyes are. Or how her laughter sounds like summertime. It's strange how I never really looked at her. And suddenly I couldn't stop staring. - You saved me.
