One hundred and fifty years after the war, the United States is a weak power. In a desperate last minute formation of alliances and secret treaties, the world declares war for a third time and this time freedom will be all but annihilated. Seventeen year old Cameron Vanator does not think the battle will come to him, but when his hometown and the surrounding civilizations are ambushed by the enemy and the inhabitants are massacred by the thousands, Cameron must take to the vast forests of Virginia with his archenemy, the prettiest, smartest, wittiest, and most intimidating girl of her age.
