Lance wasn't just the blue paladin. He was the water itself. He was drowning, searching frantically in a sea of homesickness and doubts. The waves of insecurity were insurmountably huge, crashing into Lance, pulling him under.

Along came a flame. It was only a small flicker, but it was enough to evaporate a small bit of water. The ocean didn't make it fizz out as if would any other flame and Lance greedily gulped down the small pocket of air it created around it.

It would take an unfathomably large bonfire to tackle this ocean, and already smoke was beginning to choke the air. . .
