When Jack Gibson becomes infected with The Red Plague, turning him into a so-called Zombie, his life suddenly gets complicated. Kara, his cheerleader girlfriend, dumps him. Then, after a Zombie riot, his mother decides the city is too dangerous and drags him back to Osborne, the hick town where she grew up.
Things go from bad to worse as Jack learns the town is being run by Garret Sweeney, a psychotic preacher with the hots for his mother. As it turns out, the preacher has a few secrets of his own, and will stop at nothing to get his way... not even murder.
When Jack discovers that rock music helps him think more clearly, things start to look up for him and he even decides to help some of the other Zombies at his new school. But he can't seem to win for losing, because it only gets him in more hot water with Garret.
How long can Jack hide his secret?
Who can a Zombie trust?
Will he be able to stop Garret before it's too late?

It alters my very thoughts and reactions. It taunts me by tempting me with desires that it planted in my brain. These bloodthirsty desires would lead to my demise if I ever gave in. I have more in common with the zombies than with humans at this point. Even the fallen zombies accept me as one of their own. Blood is required to retain my grip on sanity, but the sweet-smelling blood from humans is a short path to madness. Human blood is to be avoided at all costs. Humankind around the world was driven close to extinction by the sudden appearance of the zombies, yet small groups of survivors constantly manage to appear and put my control to the test. -------------------------- This is a standalone zombie book. In the words of a great philosopher; there is no limit to the gruesome and grotesque things we are willing to do in the name of survival. While reading this; Remember that not everything is as it seems. Remember that loved characters will die. Remember that the world will gradually get worse as the parts go on. Take a moment to ask yourselves these questions: What would you do in the name of survival? Would you steal to survive? Would you kill to survive? Would you lose your mind to survive? If you lost your mind, do you think you'd kill more, steal, injure, backstab, rape or any other atrocity you can think of? If you can think of it, then maybe you would. The witch wasn't happy, in fact, his blind rudeness angered her. So, she cursed him to mortality for 3 months. If he didn't learn how to handle hardships and what it's like being a human in that time frame, he would die. Jack soon meets an unexpected rescuer who takes him in and cares for him. Not only is he fighting against time, but the Boogyman decides to make Jack a target. Will he learn his lesson? Or will he die in 3 months time? If he is to survive, what will happen next? "I'm bein' serious as all outdoors, I can't say it." Jack says. "Maybe because you talk like a weed whacker." I say. Jack looks taken back by my comment. "You're funny. I like you...Kerin?" Jack says. "Keep trying." I say. "Jack, why don't you help Kieran settle into his room?" Roger suggests putting so much emphasis on my name, I almost forget how to say it. "You mean my room? Sure thing, Father." Jack huffs. Wait... I have to share a room with that thing? He looks like he bites. "Don't worry, Kieran. He don't bite." Roger assures me. Did I say that aloud or has Jack bitten in the past? **************************** Kieran's life is in shambles. His parents suddenly die in a car accident and he is sent to his father's next of kin, Roger all the way in Georgia. He doesn't know Roger, He doesn't like Georgia, and worse - they live on farm and Roger has 7 kids.
