Dan fell in love with someone who doesn't know him. The day he got sent a message by him, he coughed up a petal, he knew what that meant. Will it all go wrong or will Dan survive this with an even brighter smile.
Hanahaki is a disease that comes from unrequited love, flowers start to grow in the victims lungs, first petals, then flowers, then entire bouquets. Eventually the flowers will block all the airways of the patient, choking them.

In most cases the diagnosed is known to experience excessive coughing sessions and throwing out flower petals of their beloved's favourite kind of flower accompanied by some blood and/or mucus.
