When Matt's lips pressed against Tom's, it felt like eternity until they parted.
Was it just that cold feeling again or was he frozen in time?
Tom always had felt a chill. Not one of fear, not one of being calm or as if he was stuck in a freezer, but an empty kind of chill. People were like ghosts; they would just stare and pass through him as if his words weren't enough. He never understood attraction until the moment the two shared. The feelings he felt were indescribable, but that's all he needed to know. He didn't feel warmth like being next to a fire; he felt warmth in his heart.

Tom has been feeling pained after the incident with Tord and his giant robot. And, yes, this was pain of loss or hurt, but this was also because he had been experiencing symptoms of pancreatic cancer. Tord comes to pay his apologies for what he did in the past. They forgive him, but Matt is keeping an eye on him. By that, he's making sure he won't try anything with Tom. Why should he care?
