Jackson Lewis just moved to Arkadia, New York for their job, all the way across the country, after their previous, homophobic, asshole of a supervisor pinned an explosive accident on them. They don't expect to find anything interesting in the small city, resolved to just living out their life in their studio apartment. They don't expect to be drawn to the gorgeous owner of the River Cafe, and and they don't expect to also be drawn to the woman's wife as well.
Luna River had left her country in search of reprieve from her duties, and in search of forgiveness she could not give herself. Being the leader of such a powerful state, above all except the Commander of the country, had gone to her head and proved disastrous. So she ran, changed her name, taught herself English, and opened a cafe. She adopted a young orphan from her state, met a woman who wormed her way into their lives, and was adamant about keeping their lives quiet and safe in Arkadia, where she could do no harm. She doesn't expect a person to randomly start coming to the cafe daily, she doesn't expect to be drawn to them, and she doesn't expect for them to become an important factor in her small family's day-to-day lives.
Raven Reyes may be a genius, but finding mechanical work that wasn't fixing cars in this city she loved proved difficult. So she fixed cars, and all the other types of vehicles that broke down in the city and rolled into her shop. When she wasn't fixing cars, she was fixing appliances at her girlfriend's cafe, or taking their kid to school, or helping her with homework. She was living the simple life, enjoying herself, loving her family. She doesn't expect to meet this person who is so enamored with her girlfriend (who Luna is also enamored with), and she doesn't expect to be equally enamored with them.
They certainly don't expect to be thrown suddenly into the midst of some weird adventure when mysterious people keep following them all around.
BOOK #3
He's like a storm-unpredictable and dangerous.
I knew he was a sick bastard when he smiled after I hit him the first time.
Annoying and obsessive, that's what he is.
I sensed it early on, but I didn't realize just how deep it ran until his obsession latched onto me.
Until I became the center of his world. Until he started flashing that smug, crooked smile my way.
But we can't... we're not supposed to be together.
We're polar opposites-existing in the same world, but never meant to collide.
Yet, he's ready to tear down everything for me.
But it's not that simple. My brothers are monsters. They'll kill him.
And still, he doesn't care.
----
Glasses perched on his nose, calm and collected.
Exactly my type.
I knew he was meant to be mine the moment our eyes locked, that intense gaze pulling me in.
And I'll have him, no matter what it takes-by any means necessary, even if it costs me everything. I want to hold him in my arms, kiss him until neither of us can breathe.
But why is it so hard? Why does the world push back so fiercely when it comes to him and me?
I want him. And I will have him.
