Beyoncé Knowles is 23 years old and lives at her own apartment in Malibu, California. She has been single since she found out her ex-boyfriend of 5 years, Lyndall Locke, cheated on her when she was just 17. She currently works at the local coffee shop with her best friend Kelendria and her boyfriend Tim.

Shawn Carter is 35 years old and is always relocating from camp to camp due to his career as a Marine. He is finally able to settle down in his own apartment since he is now semi-retired, but is single and has no one he considers family to call upon other that his childhood best friend Tim, who is ready to move in with his girlfriend and is willing to give Shawn his apartment in Malibu.
