[DISCONTINUED] **MATURE LANGUAGE AND CONTENT** **POSSIBLE TRIGGERS** WATTYS2018 I walk down the staircase, entranced with his sharp, angular features. I notice how his lip curls up at the edge when he sees me. A soft breeze blows his scent across the room, and I can't think. Roses and salty ocean waves fill my nostrils. Add sunlight to the mix- which shouldn't have a smell but Luna, he smells like it- and I'm pretty sure if I could open my mouth, I'd be drooling. 'Mate.' My wolf whispers, giddy. I scramble back up the stairs. ____________________ Opening up when something terrible happens is hard. Near impossible. Jessamine Lightly was as normal as a Lycanthrope could be, but also a self-conscious teenager who felt a little out of place. She never thought that a boy would be interested in her, much less want to date her. Jessa learns too late that not every boy has pure intentions, and the boy she thought loved her, just wanted what was beneath her clothing. Hiding her physical and emotional pain from her family, Jessa copes with scarring memories and revelations. Intent on escaping her personal devil, Jessa plans to leave her pack. But having her mate- that she doesn't want- show up on her doorstep could change everything. Love, pain, twisted agendas and more...Jessamine goes through it all. Sylva lives her life in constant fear of death: not her own fear, but that of the people around her. Frail and afflicted with a variety of different illnesses, she spends most of her time in bed at home, majority of it with her best friend, Marcus, and her parents. Every night, one of them sleeps with her. They never told her so, but they're scared that when they wake up, she won't wake with them. Sylva knows she is dying. She has grown used to the idea of it. Oh no, not one of these stories again where someone angelic and heroic saves the damsel in distress. If only I was that lucky. My heart stopped beating. My lungs stopped working, my soul began to lift away... And then I was saved by a beautiful man with a kind heart and sparkles sprinkled around his head in a golden halo. A cunning, dazzling smile etched his angled features and his hair lay perfectly on his head like...black, sinful layers of pure cynical distrusting evil. Evil that was just waiting to onset a innocent girl as myself and allow her a short amount of time of happiness, and then finish her off when she became older. I'll give you a hint. The beginning of that description was slightly exaggerated. The Angel of Death. One of the only creatures known that was capable of settling the boundaries of heaven on earth. The only creature capable of making one of the Devil's darkest deals to my loving mother; a second chance for her daughter. This comes with consequences of course. Everything you know about Death is wrong. Death is not natural, Death is not normal, Death is not doleful, and Death is far from mercenary. Death blends into the shadows like coal against the most atramentous sky. Death walks the earth with his cursed, monstrous and exotic features, his enticing voice and betraying alluring eyes. Death deceives, scratches, and plays with your mind, until you slowly and painfully loose your grip on reality. He'll make you believe he's a different person, that there's a sliver hope for him. Hope for you. Death is close. In which two ex-step-siblings reconnect after just about blowing up their family the first time around... Three years ago, Maddie fell hard for Jacob Isaacs, the smartest boy in her school. The only problem was this: Her dad had quite literally gotten engaged to his mother. The two tried to dampen the flames of their burgeoning attraction for each other but not before they got caught and were the talk of the town for months. After the fall out, Maddie moved away to try and start her life over and not be known as the girl who got caught doing it with her 'brother' at prom. She hasn't seen her family in ages and intends to keep things that way. Jacob, on the other hand, has worked hard to accomplish everything he's ever dreamed of. He's stayed close to home, done exceptionally well at school, and is adored by just about everyone who meets him. There's only one problem: There's a Maddie-shaped hole where his heart used to be. But no matter how hard he tries to reach out and find her, he can't. She won't let him. He let her down and gave up on them when she needed him most. And she's not ready to forgive and forget. But then Maddie's dad passes and she's forced to come home for his funeral. It should be a quick visit. She intends to make it one. But Jacob has other plans. He let his girl slip through his fingers once and he won't let that happen again. So now he has to convince her to give him one more chance. After all, they're not related to each other anymore.
