30 Days, 30 Stories: A Writing Challenge
This is a 30 day writing challenge, a collection of short stories. I've always been a world class procrastinator. The goal of this challenge is to get me writing regularly and, hopefully, break me of the perfectionist thinking that often paralyses me. The Rules: 1. Write and publish 1 short story (flash fic, vignette) per day for 30 days. 2. Stories must be at least 100 words. 3. They can be of any genre or subject matter. Like a lot of writers I have notebooks lying around full of random story ideas. Most of my older ideas are for novels and screenplays. Been going thru my old ideas and picking out the ones I think lend themselves to the short story format. I'm also working on coming up with NEW ideas that I can use here. Never been good at using prompts, but this is a good opportunity to experiment with those. All the stories here are original works written specifically for this challenge. All Hallows Eve Wish
What is it exactly about October that makes us yearn for the creepy and the scary creatures in the dark. We watch horror movies, wear masks, and scare our close friends. We become obsessed with the creatures of the night. And on the night of October 31st we dress up as monsters and ghouls and scare each other and ourselves. But have you ever wondered what the real creatures of the night do on Halloween? If we dress up as them on October 31st what do they dress up as? Do they stay in their homes and hand out candy to the little children? Or do they come out of their homes and join together for one night of Halloween fun? One lonely spirit is about to find out. I wrote a scary story for each day of October. It was very fun, you can do it next year if you want, here are the rules: The October Series Rules For this Challenge. 2 TO 5 PAGES MAXIMUM Has to be a scary story or any sort of writing form that matches the theme of Halloween. Can only spend 20 minutes on each story, including editing times. Has to focus on the scary, not on character development. Has to be vague in terms of backstory, character description, and development. The backstory is allowed but spends no more than a page on it. Have fun!
