Born from the January Writing Challenge, I give you this short story, which the Title Gen has christened "Scattered". Below are the results from the Gens I used, though not all of the suggestions were incorporated.

 Plot premise:
Hoping for some excitement, an opportunity presents itself to the main character when a long lost friend returns, asking them for help that that results in the destruction of the city centre.

While Scattered sits as a stand-alone story now, it may end up being part one of several depending on how well I can work with it later, and if the other Gens have anything to do with it, it may end up taking some unexpected twists and turns before long.

I sit down on my bike looking around the school parking lot. Listening to music, I stand up begin to walk through the student-less parking lot. Honestly, it's not like I meant to be late. My music cut out causing me to hear a whistle. I stop in my tracks and pull my headphones down to my neck. Turning around, I seen a group of men with one guy who just smirked at me. "You new here beautiful?" one of the guys asked. "What do you think Einstein?" cocking my brow. "Ohh. Challenging? I like." he says walking towards me, about two inches away. "Really?" biting my lip, as he continued walking towards me. He reaches out and grabs my hip, "Mmhmm," smiling down at me. Swiftly, I grab his hand, turn him around, kick him right above the back of his knee, and pushes down so he's on his knees in front of me in a position of which I could brake his arm, "What a shame, 'cause personally, I don't like fuck boys with various STD'S." I look at all the men in the group who had their jaws dropped, all except for one, "Touch me one more time, and I'll brake your arm in two." I stand and kick his back so he falls on the concert. "Anyone else?" they stare at me blankly. "Didn't think so." When fuck boy tries to get up, I take my foot and slam him back down. Looking back at the boys, I say, "Later boys." Then, I turn and leave. ~~~~ Truce Mane is a girl who recently moved to New York with her youngest niece and nephew along with her uncle Mike. Truce went through many things as a child. She still went through them. Her mother blamed her for everything. She would get into Street fights. As in, she would fight in a dark alley with whoever she could. Sounds bad, huh? His hands rush to pick up thin dollar bills leaving small paper cuts on his fingers and I can feel the anxiety seeping off of his body. Sweat collecting into a small bead on his neck as he says something like, "You don't know who my boss is, bitch." I press the metal deeper into his scalp, saying I don't give a fuck about who his boss is and if any money is missing I'll take it in the form of bodies. I pull a long strand of brown hair out of my mouth as he tosses a bag into my hand. With a slight smile through my ski mask, I shoot two tiles out in the ceiling before darting out the store and into a back alley. The cashier's nametag ringing in my head as I ran. I have sat often in front of the computer, and stared long at the screen without ever writing a word. The synopsis for this project has haunted me since the first person asked me "So, what is it about?", and to this day I have never been able to deliver a straight answer. This book is about a number of things, many of which do not fit evenly into a succinct description. I have tried to make them fit and have found the resulting descriptions ill-representing and dull. Thus, I have decided to go without a description. This book will fade into obscurity no matter what I put here, so I might as well write what's really important. Winter in a city is an especially punishing time. This book comes out of my late nights and early mornings riding the train, and my looking at the window and being able to make out nothing but the blur of the glass. From the outside it may look dead, but certain people know that the inner workings of a city are a true marvel to behold. In writing this, I have tried to capture that marvel and deliver it to you, the reader. This is a book about a city and the people within it. The rest is up for you to read, if you so choose.
