A brutal war. 
A girl raised as a proud soldier, all too willing to fight and die for her country.
A man whose life has been shattered, remade into one of fear and rage and hate.
A boy who is caught in the web of politics, who experiences horrible things not meant for anyone, much less a child as young as he.

This is a tale of two countries at war, and the lives of the people who reside there, featuring some supernatural powers, heavy religion, and some quite frankly terrible people.

The story and its characters are my creation; any similarity to other works or to current events is not intended. Plagiarism is not acceptable... honestly, have a bit of self-respect. I don't particularly care if you vote for this work or not. My only desire is feedback so that I can become a better writer.

Nothing spells disaster like the Blazing Spear of Blood, created by Ymir from the root of Yggdrasil connected to Hel, capable of devouring anything with its cursed flames. Stolen by Xerxes the Red King, it has been stored in Ubhal Òir under the Lifs for millions of years, much to the chagrin of the Jotuns who now act as if it never existed. But it isn't forgotten. Someone is desperate to steal it and Comharrachadh Beatha is the perfect opportunity as most of the Guardians are on vacation enjoying the Tournament of Heroes where the Realms best Warriors come together on peaceful terms to battle each other. Treachery runs thick behind the celebrations as evil looks for an opportunity to rule again.

The prince pleads for mercy upon his new friend, for a commoner mingling with a royalty is forbidden, especially a commoner with no records of existence - ever. The king grants him training to become the prince's personal assassin; a deadly shadow for a powerful sun. They face the world together. Everyday is spent sweating blood or drawing it from the battles they dive into sword-first, falling even the most impenetrable kingdoms side by side. However, not even the desert can bury the dark secrets of Eldorium, nor can it whisper warnings of the daunting times to come. And the Gods... well, they see everything.
