Explosions, gunfire, people running, screaming, complete chaos, madness, bullets flying at friends and foes.

A young boy cowers in fear, his home consumed by fire and this neighbors by the alien Harvesters that had invaded the unsuspecting planet.

"Commander, the men you have requested are awaiting your orders." 

"Adjutant, how long until we orbit Para III?" A gruff, commanding voice asks the screen in front of him, his black hair uncut and unscrupulous, his steel eyes cold and almost emotionless.

"ETM, Ten minutes." The computer replies, and the man smirks, a cigarette in his mouth.

"Let's play a game," he whispers playfully into my ear. I hum and turn my head, "Twenty-two questions?" I ask instantly, a grin tugging at the edges of my cheeks. Under investigation, all he and his three men can do is wait, until an admiral appears with new orders, and the recording of a garbled transmission. "Echo-two, Echo-two..." The UES Saturnus is an experimental starship that has just set out on its maiden voyage. An enigmatic race known as the Edra has objected to the Saturnus and its experimental equipment. Earth has ignored their protests. "...this is Zulu-two-three... requesting assistance." Mallory and his men are the only ones close enough to deal with an extremely sensitive situation. "... Saturnus is compromised. Edra commandos are pushing... bridge is... secure. Captain... won't cease experiment... psychosis. Entire crew... affected." There are just two problems. First, the voice on the recording is Mallory's. Second, the transmission is time coded; it hasn't been sent yet. The Saturnus is not damaged. Not yet. Soon, it will be. The Saturnus is top secret for one very good reason, a reason which has forced the hand of the Edra. The Saturnus can travel through time.

By the year 2015 humans have developed practical means of interstellar travel, but as they expand further out into the Milky Way, they disturb a previously unknown race of alien beings. Very shortly after the USAs United National Space Command [UNSC] discovers their exsitence, the aliens, known as Ecarians, send several scouting parties out to find the humans planet. One of the scouting parties lands outside of Des Plaines, Illinois which has a heavy population of supernaturals. One of them, a Sergeant from the local SWAT team by the name of Zuton Cruton, befriends one of the aliens, Zorra. She convinces the leader of their squad, Will, who is also the Deputy of the aliens, to ask to call off the attack. He aggrees, but his request is harshly denied and he and several other aliens defect to the humans side just in time for the invasion by the Ecarian Space Navy [ESN] of Earth... Quick description of the Ecarians: They have claw-like hands, pupil-less eyes of any color, and hair that can be any color and/or color combination.

With technology and machines becoming sentient, and taking over the world, most of the planet is now a dry and barren desert wasteland, with seventy-give percent of human population now extinct. Austin and his friends see, they are now pitted against strong malicious AI and evil machines, along with mutated former human creatures that succumbed to the gamma rays in the atmosphere. Along with acceleration in climate change, and technological progress, humans are now reduced to smaller settlements to survive and battle for resources.
