16 year old, Maximus Buford, is devastated when his grandfather is diagnosed with lung cancer. However, things seem to change when a man walks up to him and offers him the chance to save his grandfather. Max is sent to a mutation testing area where he meets Gloria and Jack Fern. Twins with 2 unlikely abilities. Max is then placed in his own mutation chamber and has animal blood injected in him. Then, things go wrong when a hurricane approaches the lab. The scientist abandon the subjects. Lightning gets in the the way of Max's mutation process, and Joltzard is born.
