Emily's mom died when she was 6, and her dad became abusive after the death, so she visits the twisty tree when ever she needs to.
Max is the oldest out of a house of 7 kids, so he has a lot of responsibility and stress on his shoulders, he also visits the same twisty tree whenever he needs to.
How have they never met? No one knows, but when they do, what happens? Do they become friends? Enemies? Socially awkward people who give away each other's secrets for 5 bucks? Who knows what can happen, but it'll be epic no matter what.
