The poem is about a person in general who expresses the pain inside him when it has been a hard phase for long. The poem uses personification of pain as a living chair. It is not for someone for who is depressed but for someone who wants to know about what it is like being there for a long time. The aim of the poem is to develop a sense or a feeling when a person finds solace in sadness.
