"So, why do you like sunsets so much?" Ethan asks, looking at me with curiosity gleaming from his eyes and a smirk spread across his normally pouty lips.

"Because of my mother." I answer briefly, avoiding eye contact and looking at the sky set ablaze. "She always taught me to appreciate the small things, whether it be sunsets or color-coded home decor or pineapple pizza or the way you can tell someone loves you by that look in their eyes."

"Look into my eyes." Ethan whispers, even though we're all alone, and looks at me diligently. I slowly turn my head, staring into his hazel eyes that have a speck of fire in them.

"Can you tell that I love you?"
