She smiled sarcastically and left the room, leaving Magnus slumped against the couch with a sleeping Alec halfway in his lap. He smiled sweetly down at his blue-eyed boy.
He looked so peaceful asleep. A strand of his hair covered his shut eyelids. Magnus could stare at him forever. Who needed sleep when your dreams were alive and asleep in your lap.
He lay down beside Alec so that his head rested gently on the other boy's chest. They were tangle of limbs and clothes and threaded blankets, but Magnus didn't care. He was perfectly comfortable where he was.
