I stood in front of his stone clutching red, black, and dark pink roses in my hands. 'Michael Leanard Aris, A remarkable husband, father, and hero' was engraved in the front. Each of these roses meant something. Black: death and farewell. Red: love, courage, and respect. Dark Pink: appreciation and gratitude. I bent down in front of his stone and placed each down. I kissed the stone and walked away, clutching the angel necklace around my neck.
I changed after that day, I'm shy and quiet now. I'm not like other girls in this generation. I promised my dad the day of my birthday I'd wait until I was married to have sex. And I never break my promises
