Eighty-Four percent of the world's population have been infected by the Undeadian virus that has sent the entire human race--at least what's left of it, into complete pandemonium. Only, what started as a simple 'zombie apocalypse' has soon grown into something far worse, the walking dead are evolving, they're becoming progressively advanced, better than human receptors, increased to the point where these once thought brainless creatures are now endangering the human race to an extent that they can't deal with it. The Undeadian's are faster, stronger and much more suited to the environment than humans, they don't have to worry about anything other than feeding on human flesh.

Jared's a natural born leader, and whilst him and his best friend Ryder are forming their own, might I mention living, rebellion that they hope will be a big enough push to get the Undeadians to stop turning people into cannibalistic monsters that live on the flesh of a beating heart.
Which happens to be easier said than done.
But before they've even started, they have already put themselves at a disadvantage; unknowingly recruiting one of the Undeadian's; Astrid; an innocent young girl who's unfortunately been infected with the virus and is slowly losing every human aspect that she once held dear, as cliche as it sounds, the group becomes further and further caught up in unnecessary obstacles that decrease their chances of survival and make enemies of one another. Jared can't control everything, not when he's got two major problems of his own, one of which is that he's growing to love somebody he shouldn't. The other, he's running out of precious time.

Cassidy Wilson is an Immune. No, she is more than that - she is a Verde. A gene sequence common in those with green eyes keeps her safe from the Pulse, a virus released in the US at the turn of the century - the next century, that is. Cassidy's special advantage, paired with her wit and physical abilities, have brought her into the world of the Verdes - the special police force of Quarantine, keeping in check the crime that comes when everyone's days are numbered. As Cassidy trains to lay down her life in order for the people of her continent to die in peace, she uncovers the past of the Pulse, and through it, her own past. But can she handle it? AN: This is a product of NaNoWriMor (National Novel Writing Month) so it's not going to be perfect, and it is completely unedited. There might be some parts that I change in previous chapters as I decide that I need more details to support an event that happens in a later chapter. There might be parts that seem a bit wordy - that's probably me just trying to reach my word count goal (is that cheating?). There might be parts that just seem plain unnecessary - that's me writing a scene, and then not wanting to delete something I spent so much effort on. There might be parts that seem emotionless, or not very well written - that's me powering through writers block. There might be scenes that take the story nowhere - that's because I'm a 'pantser' as NaNoWriMo has so kindly tagged me. I don't plan anything out, except for a very rough plot line. That being said - ALL HATE WELCOME!

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Warning: Contains sex, some violence, occasional foul language, and adult issues. Genre: Science Fiction, Romance, Post-apocalyptic, Dark romance Length: 84,468 words This book has been published on Amazon. The first ten chapters will be updated to what you get in the published novel and will remain here, so you can try before you buy.
